VITAKOOL

VitaKool is a well-established business that produces healthy drinks, including smoothies and green juices. They recently launched a new product, an energy drink.

My task was to create the packaging for a new product. It was their first time entering the energy drink market, and they wanted the design to:

  • Stand out from their competitors

  • Appeal to consumers who aim to lead a healthy lifestyle

  • Address the misperception that all energy drinks are ‘bad’ (high caffeine and high sugar), as their product is designed to be a healthier alternative.

The whole design has an eco-friendly look. A combination of browns and light orange representing a peach flavour corresponds with the brand’s sustainable and environmental interests. The green stripe adds another dimension to the project. The typefaces used in the design complement each other well. The primary typeface is a delicate sans serif with rounded terminals. Easy to read and aesthetically pleasing. The secondary typeface is a unique outline shadow font modelled after 3-D blocks, perfect for dynamic and energetic designs.

At the top left corner of the design is space for information about the company, encouraging potential buyers to consider the product. Below is a slogan: ‘Your kick in the can’ incorporated into a well-designed block of text to draw more attention to it. At the bottom, there is an area where all the ingredients are listed, with all vitamins and minerals in bold to make them stand out. On the right-hand side is a space for nutrition information. Below, I placed the ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ icon to appeal to environmentally conscious customers. The front of the can features a large peach graphic, indicating the drink’s flavour.

Below is information about the flavour and type of product. The bottom of the middle part features a table with specified key information about the product, including zero sugar, low caffeine content, and calorie count. Below is space for info about the can capacity. The project is modern, balanced and in line with the newest trends in your niche.

The shades of brown, green, and orange give it a natural feel, evoking associations with health, nature, and well-being. The packaging of my choice was a 250ml aluminium can, which is easy to store, transport, and recycle. Information about the lack of sugar, low calorie content, and caffeine is clearly visible on the front of the packaging. Deliciously looking peach from the centre part encourages you to try this drink. The project is coherent and visually appealing. It stands out from competitors with its balanced colour palette and natural aura.
